About Vaughn Dance Company
Origins
A modern dance company, with roots in ballet and lyrical jazz dance, Vaughn Dance Company was formed in 2002 by choreographer Jennifer Vaughn. Vaughn's modern work weaves together the familiar and the innovative, often bringing together disparate artistic and historic elements to illustrate connections.
The company itself is distictive with a wide diversity in age (a span of more than 30 years), dance style, and appearance.
The company began performing individual pieces in 2003 and has so-far produced five concerts of original work: Open (2005), Blue Lines (2007), Centripetal (2007), Reaching Out for the Unlimited (2008), and Chiaroscuro (2009).
